Music Strings Academy was founded through the love and passion for guiding young children and adults in discovering the joy of music making. We provide high quality music lessons catering to each of our students’ capability and personality. We believe in the importance of developing our students’ musical interest while enforcing proper playing technique, as well as building a strong relationship between teacher and student is what brings success to our students.
Lesson Approach
We provide a structural lesson approach in our music lessons that consist of Repertoire, Theory, Technique to guide each student establishing a strong foundation for their respective instrument of choice.
At the end of each semester, the academy presents recitals and concerts to provide our students the opportunity to express themselves through performance as well as strengthening their confidence in the presence of an audience.
When students have grasped the basics of music playing, we encourage students to take on exam curriculums offered by Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) and Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) to further challenge and hone their performing skills.
Lesson Structure
We understand not every student can handle the stress of preparing for music exams. Some students may wish to learn music for the sheer enjoyment of playing their favorite music. For that we offer a structureless class style focusing on what a student is looking for from taking music lessons with us. Students who started with a formal structure can also opt out from the examination route if he/she does not wish to pursue playing towards examinations.
Learning Objectives
At Music Strings, we believe that the balance of Enjoyment, Quality, Patience, and Diligence produces a successful lesson experience. It is important to us that our students benefit even the slightest gain from the lessons we offer.
Enjoyment: discovering music that piques the student’s interest, delivering a teaching approach that is lighthearted and friendly so the student may learn music in a stress-free environment.
Quality: While we encourage lessons to be fun and engaging, students must progress in some shape or form over time taking lessons with us. Even the slight improvement is encouraged and something to be proud of.
Patience: A good teacher requires high patience in tolerating a student's struggle in learning a piece of music. He/She should always look for a different teaching approach and method that suits each student’s needs if one method doesn’t work.
Diligence: A good music making experience not only comes from a good teacher. Students are required to practice the music they have learned in class at home. Only through the teacher’s correct guidance, student’s diligence, and parent’s encouraging support will lead to the pathway of successful music learning experience.
